Cable_METISSIn line with its vision to be the prime provider of wholesale services to operators, the CEB FiberNET has joined the METISS submarine cable consortium. METISS is a submarine optical cable project linking Mauritius to Reunion, Madagascar and finally terminating in Durban, South Africa. CEB FiberNET is actively involved in the project along with five other operators such as Emtel, SRR, Zeop, Canal+ Telecom and Telma.

The construction and maintenance Agreement (C&MA) between the members of the consortium was signed on the 13th Dec 2017 in Mauritius. The new cable of design capacity 24,000 Gbps, will cost about 40 million Euros and will be operational in Q4 2019. It is expected to largely boost Internet connectivity in the island as well as provide a fall back route to the two existing submarine cables: SAFE and LION.
